Shallow Water Pipe Lay Systems
Since the early days of the offshore industry, SAS has been delivering Pipe Tensioners for shallow water applications. SAS was one of the first companies to do so.
The most common way of laying pipes in shallow water is the S-lay method. On board the laybarge joints of pipe are welded into a pipe string. This string is supported by pipe rollers mounted on deck and fed into the Pipe Tensioner(s). These Pipe Tensioners are the essential means to hold the pipe while laying it horizontally from deck into the sea.
